Is this quote fair?

The most common thread: someone posts a quote and asks whether it is normal. This came up in 20 threads. The replies were mostly mixed (14): some said the price was normal for a big city, others that it was high. Five leaned negative and one positive.

Ten threads suggested a dental college, a government dental hospital or a smaller town to cut the cost, seven of them positively. Only two mentioned that students carry out the treatment there.

Why do braces quotes differ so much between clinics?

A quote reflects four things: the appliance (metal, ceramic, self-ligating, lingual or aligners), how complex the bite is, how long treatment will take, and who plans and adjusts it. Two quotes can only be compared when they cover the same appliance and the same treatment plan. A lower figure for a shorter or simpler plan isn't a saving if your case needs more.

What should a braces quote include?

Ask whether it covers the consultation and records (X-rays, photos, scans), the braces or aligners, every adjustment visit, emergency visits for a broken bracket, any extractions or extra appliances your case needs, removal, and retainers afterwards. Is a dental college a good option for braces?

It can cost less, because postgraduate students treat patients under their teachers' supervision. It suits people with flexible time: visits can take longer and you may see different students during treatment. In a private practice you see the same orthodontist from start to finish. Either way, make sure an orthodontist plans your treatment.

Are Indian aligner brands as good as Invisalign?

Results depend less on the brand than on how the treatment is planned and checked. What matters is that an orthodontist examines you in person, plans the tooth movements and sees you regularly to check progress. Some bites suit one system better than another, which is why we recommend an option only after the examination. At Curve, clear aligners start from ₹60,000 and Invisalign from ₹1,20,000.

How do I get a useful second opinion?

Take your first quote and treatment plan with you, and ask: which appliance, for how long, how many visits, what is included, and what happens if treatment takes longer than planned. A second orthodontist can then tell you whether the plan makes sense for your teeth, not just whether their price is lower.
